Police arrested Bruce Edward Bell, a convicted bank robber with a 40-year federal prison history, on charges of allegedly robbing another bank in Sun Valley and making away with over $60,000 in cash. According to the LAPD, the 71-year-old Bell, with four prior bank robbery convictions, had spent four decades in federal prisons and had been on supervised release since July 2021.

On December 21, investigators claim that Bell entered a bank on Vineland Avenue in Sun Valley, where he reportedly seized an employee, threatening to use a gun unless granted access to a secure area of the bank. Once inside, he allegedly directed another employee to fill his bag with cash before making his escape with more than $60,000.

Following the reported robbery, law enforcement officers identified and pulled over a 2002 Volvo, matching the description of the getaway vehicle. During the stop, officers discovered $64,000 in cash inside the vehicle along with a black replica firearm.

Bruce Edward Bell was subsequently arrested and booked into an LAPD jail for the alleged bank robbery.
