Reports surfaced noting that ‘8 Mile’ rapper Supa Emcee was charged with the murder of mental health and domestic violence activist Kelly Mays.
Mays was reportedly the girlfriend of Jimmie “Supa Emcee” Brown, and police found Mays dead in their apartment with chest and neck wounds.
The family of Mays claims the relationship between her and Brown was tumultuous for years and was filled with bouts of domestic violence.
Police say Brown allegedly stabbed Mays repeatedly with a knife at their apartment in Detroit before running from the apartment. According to the Westland Police Department, Brown turned himself in later in the day. The 46-year-old rapper was placed in jail and reportedly denied bond. As of now, he is facing life in prison if convicted. Brown is scheduled to appear in court on January 25.
