Sebastian Telfair revealed that despite committing to the University of Louisville and the recruitment efforts of Coach Rick Pitino, he had always intended to enter the NBA directly. Sebastian confided that an unfortunate death in his apartment building did not steer his decision but simply made sense of it to others. A visit from Coach Pitino at his home failed to convince him otherwise, as Sebastian remembers telling his family that he was certain about his NBA decision, irrelevant of his draft status. Sebastian touched on how witnessing numerous friends being killed made him worry about his family, leading Vlad to suggest that Sebastian's decision was partly based on attempting to get his family out of that situation. He added that despite growing up in a challenging environment, not everyone from his area has the ambition of using basketball as a vehicle for improved circumstances or a better life.
