Update 01/14/2024 5:29pm:
Passengers who were on flight 1282 for Alaska Airlines were reportedly offered $1,500 along with other perks from the airline after a portion of the plane they were on blew off while in the air.
The section that blew out of the plane came about shortly after the aircraft took off. Lawyers for the victims in the incident say that the dollar amount is not enough for the traumatic situation.
The compensation package offered by the airline promised a full refund on the original ticket, as well as assistance in booking a new travel arrangement according to passengers.
Daniel Laurence, a lawyer who is representing an Alaska Airlines passenger in another case, said: “As a moral matter, $1,500 per passenger, for what could have been a death experience and might even be described as a near-death experience, is inadequate.” Stay tuned for more updates.
