Former L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva recently appeared on Fox Los Angeles after testifying for four hours.

In response to concerns raised about alleged deputy gang violence, Villanueva stated that every death, whether at the hands of law enforcement or through murder, is a tragedy. However, he argued that many of the witnesses who accused the department of wrongdoing had lawsuits against the department or had lost previous lawsuits, calling into question their credibility. Villanueva believes that the entire questioning process was an exercise in electioneering as he is currently running for public office.

One of the main points of contention during the questioning was the existence of deputy gangs. While Villanueva acknowledged the presence of deputy subgroups, he argued that they were not criminal gangs. He defended his decision not to inquire about a deputy's subgroup affiliations when making promotions, stating that having a tattoo or being part of a subgroup does not automatically make someone a member of a criminal entity. He believes asking such questions would be unconstitutional and criticized the pushing of this false narrative.
