Renowned boxing trainer Teddy Atlas was approached to train heavyweight contender Michael Moore. At the time, Moore was undefeated but had a reputation for being difficult to work with. Moore's manager understood Moore's potential and believed Moore needed more than just technical training. Atlas explained that Moore doubted himself due to past issues, such as being abandoned by his father. Moore would challenge people, including walking out on training sessions to test their dedication. Atlas believes the mental side of boxing takes precedence over the physical aspect, particularly in Moore's case. This approach proved successful when in 1994, Moore won against Evander Holyfield to become the world heavyweight champion. Atlas, who had been committed to training champions, felt this achievement was destined, marking a significant moment in his career and validating his belief in the power of mental strength in boxing.
