During a recent Instagram Live session, Rod Wave explained what inspired him to start rapping.

Rod told viewers, "One of my girls I used to f*** with, she was so f***ing in love with NBA YoungBoy. I was like 17 years old living in my own crib. I remember she was just so f***ed up about bro. And I just used to be in my living room watching bro’s videos and s*** and I used to be like damn, he’s turned up. So I tried to turn it up. That’s real s***."

Rod added, "And now we here. It’s crazy bruh how much a n***a took and just used it. Like damn. That’s what made me take s*** serious though, like just seeing other n***as. That s*** inspired me."

This comes after NBA YoungBoy told Bootleg Kev that he would never collaborate on a full album with Rod. He explained,That’s somebody who will be forever winning in the game. I think he love what he do. I think he’s so positive. I think he’s so taking in to the people of how he feel."

When it comes to the album, YoungBoy added, "I think that would be a setback for him. My image f***ed up. I think I gotta stay in my own lane."
