Reports surfaced that Griselda Blanco's family is now suing Sofia Vergara and Netflix for her portrayal of the woman in an upcoming Netflix series. The family is aiming to stop the release of the show.
Blanco’s children, who are now adults, are currently representing her estate and have filed a lawsuit against Netflix and Vergara, claiming the streaming platform wasn’t authorized to use Blanco’s likeness and image.
Blanco’s son Michael says he was doing interviews with people who were trying to get his life story, with the interviews spanning from 2009 to 2022. Their aim was to turn the interviews into a production. Michael then claimed he was told that Netflix was interested in the story but didn’t use any of Michael’s interviews.
Michael and Blanco's estate now claims that Netflix used material from his stories without permission but never compensated him for it. Vergara was mentioned in the suit because she is reportedly an executive producer for the series scheduled to air on January 25.
