Part 1: Teddy Atlas on Tracking Down Man Who Slashed His Face, Needed 400 Stitches

Teddy Atlas recounted his first face-to-face conversation with Mike Tyson in 2013 at a boxing event at Turning Stone Casino. Tyson unexpectedly approached Atlas and apologized. Though details of what Tyson sought forgiveness for weren't explicit, Atlas accepted Tyson’s handshake and apology. Atlas later found out Tyson was progressing through the 12 steps of drug and alcohol rehab, which involves accounting for past mistakes and seeking forgiveness from those wronged. Atlas believes that forgiveness is important, especially since he himself is still working on forgiving himself for past mistakes. He ended the interview by mentioning his own charitable foundation, which helps families in need, expressing hope that his work can make the world a “tiny bit better.”
