Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Emoni Bates and teammate Gabe Osabuohien have been suspended for two NBA G League games without pay for entering the spectator stands during a postgame confrontation with fans. G League president Shareef Abdur-Rahim announced the suspension following the team's loss to the Birmingham Squadron. The suspensions for both players will begin during the Charge's game against the Osceola Magic. Despite being a highly-recruited high school player and a No. 49 pick in the NBA draft, Bates has played only 10 games for the Cavs. In the G League, he has been performing well, averaging 24.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. Bates had faced legal issues in September 2022 when he was arrested on gun charges, ultimately pleading guilty to one misdemeanor count of attempted illegal transportation of a weapon.
