According to reports, Justin Johnson—the accused murderer of Memphis rap star Young Dolph, requested that the judge look at possible jurors in trial from outside of Memphis.
The request was made by his lawyer, Luke Evans, who filed a petition with Judge Jennifer Mitchell. The petition highlighted a concern about the “relentless media coverage” focused on the case of the late rapper that involved his client. Because of that, Evans expressed concern over a “public visceral outrage” related to Young Dolph’s murder, which he says could mess with the jury pool.
Johnson’s lawyer claims fans of Dolph threatened Johnson and his co-defendant Cornelius Smith with death in prison. As of now, the judge hasn’t made a ruling.
