Letterance Grady, the father of the teen gunman who shot and killed 12-year-old London Bean in Minneapolis over two years ago, apologized in court during his sentencing. Grady was accused of encouraging his son, Jeremiah, to retaliate after a fight involving his younger brother and London Bean. Letterance drove Jeremiah to the shooting scene, where the boy shot Bean. Initially denying involvement, Grady was captured on security video at the scene.

He pleaded guilty and, accounting for time served, was sentenced to over four years in prison plus supervised release. Grady apologized to Bean's family in court but denied encouraging his son to shoot the boy. London Bean's family expressed dissatisfaction with the plea deal, feeling blindsided and wanting the case to go to trial. Jeremiah Grady was sentenced to 30 years for the shooting. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty stated that Jeremiah acted on his own accord in the shooting.
