Michael Jai White discussed UFC fighter Sean Strickland’s inflammatory comments about the LGBTQ+ community. Though White admitted to being unfamiliar with Strickland’s words and actions, he applauded his authenticity. Strickland, known to make homophobic and transphobic remarks, was booted off Twitter over his insensitivity. Despite disagreeing with the sentiments expressed by Strickland, White said it was refreshing to see an unapologetic person unfazed by societal outrage. The actor called for people to be less afraid of words and emphasized the importance of controversial conversations, even given the rising sensitivity in society. He compared the situation to comedians being permitted to speak freely and provocatively. White concluded that he respected Strickland for his courage to stay true to himself.
