Anti-abortion activist Maison DesChamps, known as the 'Pro-Life Spider-Man' on social media, was arrested after climbing the famous Sphere in Las Vegas ahead of Super Bowl Sunday. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police shut down traffic in the area as DesChamps climbed to the top of the structure. Upon descending, he was arrested, and others on the ground were also reportedly detained, though their connection to DesChamps is unclear.
DesChamps had shared photos and videos of the climb on Instagram Stories, garnering attention for his stunt. In a video circulating on social media, he claimed to have done the stunt to raise money for a homeless pregnant woman. DesChamps has a history of similar stunts, including climbing the Aria hotel-casino in 2021 in protest against COVID-19 health orders in Nevada and climbing the Salesforce tower in San Francisco in 2022. The Sphere representatives expressed gratitude to local authorities, stating that those involved are in custody.
