According to Robert Ladd, former LAPD detective Greg Kading has been accused of stealing evidence from open murder cases, including the cases of rappers 2Pac and Biggie Smalls, to later utilize it for personal gain. Kading, who was removed from the task force in 2000, supposedly took all information from the open cases, wrote a book, and profited from it. Ladd explains this conduct as problematic in law enforcement, especially considering the stature of these cases. Furthermore, Kading allegedly became entangled in a RICO case, which led a judge to produce a 147-page report implicating Kading in threatening, lying, and coercing witnesses. Despite these accusations, Kading was not officially charged, but his ability to effectively perform as a cop was severely questioned. Ladd suggests these controversial actions in the past will constantly be brought up, hindering Kading's credibility.
