Previously, Young Dolph murder suspect Justin Johnson begged the judge on the case to look at possible jurors outside of Memphis. Johnson’s lawyer said they were concerned about “public visceral outrage” about the murder of Dolph, which he claimed could mess with the jury pool. Judge Mitchell’s ruling on the matter found her saying, “This court is wary that jurors from Shelby County will not be able to lay aside their opinions or impressions and render a verdict based upon the evidence presented.” Previously, the trial for Johnson was moved from March 11, to June 3, 2024.
