According to reports, Shaquille O’Neal is set to have his number 32 Orlando Magic jersey retired and put in the rafters by the franchise on February 13.
Previously, the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers retired O’Neal’s jerseys from his time with each franchise. Because of the move by the Magic, Shaq is now the fourth player to have a jersey retired by three or more franchises. Prior to O’Neal, legendary players like “Pistol” Pete Maravich, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell had their jerseys retired with multiple teams.
Shaq’s number being put in the rafters marks the first time a player will have their number retied by the Orlando Magic.
