Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu faced off in a one-on-one three-point contest during All-Star Saturday in Indianapolis.
While Sabrina kept the score close throughout the contest, in the end, Curry walked away victorious with a final score of 29-26.
Social media users used the moment to speak about there being no talent gap between the NBA and WNBA. However, "Inside the NBA" co-host Kenny Smith made some controversial comments that have led to a wave of backlash.
After the contest, Smith stated, "I think she should've shot from the women's line. That would've been a fair contest."
Atlanta Hawks assistant coach Brittni Donaldson reacted on X, writing, "Sabrina hitting the exact score that Dame won with, losing to Steph, and the immediate commentary being 'welp, she should’ve shot from the women’s line' pretty much sums up our experience if ya’ll are wondering."
Reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid also weighed in, writing on X, "Kenny smith been drinking lmao."
