Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley called out former NBA player JJ Redick for criticizing Doc Rivers on ESPN's First Take. Beverley implied that Rivers "saved" Redick's career during their time together with the Los Angeles Clippers. Redick responded, stating he had another offer to be a starter before joining the Clippers and dismissing the notion that Rivers saved his career.

Redick expressed frustration over Rivers' tendency to deflect blame and cited instances where Rivers blamed the team for poor performance. Redick particularly disagreed with Rivers' comments after the Bucks' loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, where the coach mentioned having some players in Cabo during the game. Redick accused Rivers of lacking accountability and criticized his attempt to take credit for the James Harden trade to the Los Angeles Clippers. Redick played under Rivers from 2013 to 2017 and isn't the only one to express dissatisfaction with Rivers, as others like Rasheed Wallace and Josh Smith have also criticized him in the past.
