Nareau was considered a suspect even on the day he gave the eulogy. He was arrested on charges of second-degree murder, and forensic testing linked him to the crime scene through his rifle. James Khoury, 71, was shot through the chest, and Nareau was found near the crime scene.
Phone records contradicted Nareau's initial statement, indicating he walked to his grandparents' home around the time of the shooting. The projectile found belonged to a rifle owned by Nareau.
