Trick Daddy made the claim that his single 'I'm a Thug' was the first hip-hop song to incorporate children in the chorus. The track, which came from his platinum-selling fourth album 'Thugs Are Us,' peaked at number 17 on the Billboard chart and currently has over 80 million streams. Contrary to popular belief, it was not Jay-Z or Lil Durk who first implemented this innovative chorus style. Trick Daddy mentioned that the kiddie chorus came from The Betty Wright Children's Choir, consisting of his own kids, nieces, and nephews. The rapper also noted that his follow-up album, 'Thug Holiday,' was inspired by his tumultuous youth in the juvenile system and reflected on the process of having to secure video clearance rights for children appearing in his music video for the title track.
