Comedian Donnell Rawlings was recently interviewed by Vlad, fresh off his new Netflix special, ‘A New Day,’ with Donnell expressing initial apprehension about facing his interviewer. Miles Davis was invoked by Rawlings as he explained his discomfort with being faced by "the White man" until they have gotten "deep into conversation." They discussed the Alabama brawl, which Rawlings feels was a pivotal moment for the unity of the Black community. Rawlings also commented on the commodification of the incident with folding chair merchandise being sold online. They ended by discussing the lack of gun violence in the brawl, despite occurring in a state where carrying a gun is relatively common, and Rawlings implied it was a blow to the ego for many involved.
