A report reveals that at least 30 Kentucky prison guards engaged in inappropriate relations with inmates over a 16-month period, ending in November 2023. Incidents include a female staffer becoming pregnant by an inmate, a guard charged with third-degree rape after being caught having sex with an inmate, and another female guard resigning due to a relationship with an inmate.

In addition to sexual misconduct, 14 prison employees were found to have provided drugs and contraband to inmates. Out of 140 probed prison staffers, 62 were fired or resigned, while others received warnings or training. Experts cite challenging work environments and chronic understaffing as factors contributing to such incidents.
