The Patriots offered him $15 million, including a $9 million bonus. Following his departure from the Raiders, rumors circulated suggesting Brown had orchestrated his move to the Patriots, a claim he denies. Brown talked about his instant connection with Tom Brady, describing him as a mentor. Despite displaying dominance in the game against Miami, he felt the NFL did not support or want him, a feeling further intensified by the sudden announcement that his bonus would not be paid.
