Comedian Michael Blackson recently expressed discomfort with fellow comedian Aries Spears' decision to kiss a man in a comedy skit, branding it as "disgusting." Blackson stated categorically that he would not have made such a decision. The debate began with a discussion about men wearing dresses, especially in a comedic context. Blackson reflected that the act of putting on a dress does not bother him, rather, the act of kissing another man as a part of a comedy skit was unacceptable for him. The conversation also brought forth past examples from the comedy industry, such as Harry Belafonte and Dave Chappelle, who wore dresses as part of their acts. While keeping his personal boundaries clear, Blackson also acknowledged the evolution of comedy and how humor was created differently in the past as compared to the present. He concluded, however, that these changes did not justify the act of men kissing each other in comedic scenes.
