Former convict turned criminal justice advocate, Sheldon Johnson, found himself on the wrong side of the law once again after human remains were discovered in his New York City apartment. The 48-year-old was charged with murder and dismemberment of a man, shocking many of his supporters and those who knew him for his efforts to reform himself and help others detach from gang life.

Johnson, who spent 25 years in prison for attempted murder as a high-ranking member of the Bloods gang, had made appearances on popular podcasts discussing his journey towards redemption. However, his recent arrest has cast a dark shadow over his supposed reformation.

Neighbors reported suspicious activity at his apartment, leading police to discover a man's torso and two feet in a bin. The investigation quickly unfolded to reveal the victim's arms, legs, and head in Johnson's possession, hidden in his apartment's freezer. Prosecutors stated that Johnson had attempted to disguise himself with the victim's clothing and a wig.

Sources revealed that the victim and Johnson had known each other from their time in prison, suggesting that the crime might have been related to a dispute between the two. Johnson was remanded without bail, and both his attorney and the Queen's Defenders declined to comment on the matter.
