Rawlings stated that the producer warned him that the decision not to wear the shorts would greatly affect his future on the show, marking his last day. Rawlings shared his beliefs on the 'Hollywood dress' controversy in comedy, stating that individuals have the choice to say no and that wearing a dress in skits isn't funny to him. He expressed frustration over the idea that Black male comedians must wear dresses to be successful and clarified that betting one's own career on an outfit is not worth the popularity or money it could bring. Rawlings noted that he has numerous ways to be funny without resorting to wearing dresses or booty shorts.
