Comedian Michael Blackson sat with Vlad to discuss the earnings of entertainers, particularly comedians working in different areas of the world. Blackson mentioned his refusal of many overseas gigs as he felt entertainers are not adequately respected, particularly outside the United States. He suggested that comedians are underpaid, particularly by promoters in England who see comedy shows as collective events, not individual headliner events. No matter how well-known the comedian is within the circuit if the pay does not cover flights and other accompanying costs, they won't take the gig. Blackson also noted that popular Black comedians aren't earning as much as their counterparts in countries like England, leading many to try their luck in America. In his opinion, there aren't many well-paid Black comedians in the UK comparable to the likes of Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, or Dave Chappelle, who all hail from America.
