Detroit rapper Bo$$ has reportedly passed away, according to a recent Instagram post from Bun B.

"Rest in peace to my big sis Lichelle Laws AKA Boss," the UGK member wrote in his caption. "One of the best female MCs and a dear friend. Give Rick Royal a hug for me. Long Live The Org!"

Bun B's post caused reactions from other notable Hip-Hop figures, who paid their respects to the 1990s artist. Fellow peers, such as Jermaine Dupri, The D.O.C., Jadakiss, King T, Chuck D, Three 6 Mafia, and 9th Wonder, all commented on Bun B's post, offering their condolences.

Bo$$, often credited as one of the first female gangsta rappers, was the first female artist signed to Russell Simmons' Def Jam West. After being discovered by DJ Quik and signing her deal, the pioneering rapper released her debut album Born Gangstaz, in 1993. She would go on to release the singles "Deeper," "Recipe of a H*e," and "Progress of Elimination."

Despite her success in the 1990s, Bo$$ suffered health issues in recent years. In May 2011, she revealed she was suffering from renal disease and needed a new kidney. A few years later, she suffered a stroke and seizure in 2017. The rapper's health issues eventually caused her family to launch a GoFundMe in 2021 to help cover her medical expenses.

As of now, there are no further details on the cause of Bo$$'s passing. Stay tuned as more details develop.
