Bishop Lamor Whitehead has been convicted of wire fraud, attempted extortion, lying to the FBI, and related charges in Manhattan. Whitehead, who ran Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Brooklyn, targeted an elderly single mother, taking $90,000 of her life savings for a promised home renovation. He spent the money on personal expenses.

Additionally, Whitehead attempted to extort $5,000 from an auto body shop owner and forged bank statements to secure a $250,000 loan. The charges carry a potential sentence of up to 45 years in prison. Whitehead has connections with Mayor Adams, but the mayor has not been accused of wrongdoing in this case.
