In recent years, R. Kelly has become a controversial figure in the music industry due to numerous allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse. While some may know him as a talented R&B singer and songwriter, others, like comedian Lil Rel, have had less-than-pleasant encounters with him.

Lil Rel recently opened up about his experiences with R. Kelly, shedding light on some of the questionable behavior he witnessed firsthand. Around the 39:30 minute mark of his revealing interview with Shannon Sharpe, Lil Rel recounted a series of awkward interactions with the singer, including an incident at John Singleton's birthday party where R. Kelly created his own VIP section without permission.

According to Lil Rel, R. Kelly's behavior at the party, as well as on the set of the music video for "Trapped in the Closet," raised red flags. He described a situation where R. Kelly prohibited other women from talking to Lil Rel and his brother, leaving them feeling ostracized and confused.

Despite these encounters, Lil Rel admitted that he feels conflicted about the controversy surrounding R. Kelly. While he empathizes with the victims of abuse, he also suggests that R. Kelly may have unresolved issues from his past that contribute to his behavior. You can listen in full above.
