King Yella revealed that he started releasing music inspired by artists like Soulja Boy, Ludacris, and Nelly. He shared that he got his first facial tattoos, teardrops, at 18, which he later covered. Discussing a major turning point in his life, King Yella disclosed that he served 18 months of a three-year prison sentence for assault on a police officer with a firearm. He maintains that he didn't shoot at the police, instead suggesting that the charges stemmed from him allegedly pointing the firearm at officers. He admitted the police did shoot at him, grazing his dreadlocks. He also stated that he was in prison during key events within his supposed gang in 2011.
