Fubanger admitted in an interview to taking a plea deal after Tekashi 6ix9ine cooperated with the federal authorities, who painted the picture of Fubanger being a "dangerous shooter." Fubanger explained how the case made him feel trapped and eventually led him to the plea deal, as he possibly faced 25 years if found guilty. Along with admitting to discharging a firearm at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to scare rival gang members, he also pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon and aiding racketeering which could have potentially landed him in prison for life. While he argued that he acted in self-defense, the judges argued his guilt stemmed from his gang affiliations. Proceedings became more convoluted with Tekashi’s unexpected revelations during his testimony, further sealing Fubanger’s fate.
