King Yella recently spoke out about how he was shot while filming a Black Lives Matter music video in 2016, sharing that the purpose of the video was to encourage youths to end gang violence. Yella also criticized fellow rapper Slim Jesus, stating that his gangster persona is fraudulent while attributing the downfall of Slim's career to Vlad. According to Yella, Slim hurt his own image by claiming on Vlad's platform that his gangster persona was fake, an admission Yella regarded as unnecessary. As Yella put it, Slim should have merely asserted his right to self-defense without discrediting who he was known to be. Vlad, however, denied these allegations, instead claiming that his platform actually boosted Slim’s career.
