Marcellus Wiley, former NFL player and ESPN commentator, shared that Drake once threatened to cancel his hosting gig at the ESPYS if a negative interview about him aired. However, shortly after the prerecorded interview, Drake's team requested that the interview not be aired due to the negative comments Drake made about Kendrick Lamar. Wiley stated that Drake's team claimed Drake wouldn't host the ESPYS if the interview was aired. Despite this, Wiley looks at the incident as Drake playing politics and not as a weakness, highlighting the competitive nature of the rap industry.
