Part 3: Yelawolf on Getting Dropped from Columbia Records, 1st Album Never Released
Part 1: Yelawolf on Thinking He'd Make $20K in 1 Month as a Fisherman, Became Homeless & Made $1K
--------
Yelawolf discussed his experience on Missy Elliott's reality show, "The Road to Stardom," and his subsequent music career. After auditioning in Atlanta and making it onto the show, Yelawolf felt 'hoodwinked' by the reality TV antics and poor-quality tracks. He was eliminated after challenging the authenticity of a beat made by record producer Dallas Austin. Despite this, Yelawolf insists that he is the only successful participant in the show. After his ejection, he released his independent album "Creek Water" in 2005, but it failed to gain traction. Despite several setbacks, including an unsuccessful mixtape, he eventually found his voice. His breakthrough came when he moved to Atlanta and began performing on the underground scene, leading him to sign with Columbia Records through Ghet-O-Vision in 2007.
