Part 1: Vanilla Ice: My Mom Got Married 7 Times, I Never Met My Dad

--------

Vanilla Ice delved into the origin of his iconic stage name, which emerged during his early days as a breakdancer in Texas. Initially, Vanilla Ice, born Robert Van Winkle, was just known as "Vanilla" due to being the sole White member of his breakdancing crew. Reflecting on those times, he admitted he didn’t like the nickname and often challenged his friends, who teased him about it. The “Ice” part of his moniker originated from a signature breakdancing move he perfected, which involved a slick, ice-like, sideways slide. Despite his initial distaste, his crew combined these elements, coining the name "Vanilla Ice." Over time, what started as a playful jab among friends transformed into a legendary and beloved brand in the hip-hop world. Vanilla Ice now embraces the name that once irked him, recognizing its cool factor and its indelible mark on music history.
