Boosie revealed that he began using codeine at the age of 19 after being introduced to it by a friend. At first, it was curiosity, but soon, he became deeply addicted, storing entire fridges full of the syrup. Boosie described his experience with codeine as costly both financially and physically, admitting he likely spent around $1 million on the drug. His addiction was so severe that he had a whole drawer dedicated to bottles of codeine, which he said resembled liquid heroin in potency. The turning point came during a stint in prison, where the lack of access forced him into painful withdrawal—a seven-day ordeal filled with vomiting and diarrhea. The rapper stressed the importance of staying away from codeine, noting that even a single sip could pull him back into addiction. Despite being continuously surrounded by the substance in the music industry, Boosie has maintained his sobriety thanks to a strong military-minded focus.
