Ms. Pat shared the challenges she faced early in her career, from struggling at open mics to the pivotal moment that changed everything. Despite receiving little recognition and financial reward, her belief in her comedy kept her going, supported by her husband during tough times. Raised to be wary of White people by her mother, Ms. Pat initially felt out of place when she moved to Indianapolis and began appearing on White-dominated platforms. Her big break came through podcasts, starting with Eddie Ifft’s show. Despite financial constraints, Ms. Pat invested in traveling to perform on his podcast, which opened doors to numerous other opportunities. Her candid humor resonated widely, leading to appearances on major podcasts like Joe Rogan. Ms. Pat credits these platforms for her career breakthrough.
