Spears criticized the Lakers as the "Dallas Cowboys of the NBA," pointing out the franchise's poor decision-making and mismanagement since LeBron joined. Highlighting the questionable decisions, Spears argued that these failures wouldn't have happened if Jerry Buss were still alive.
Spears was particularly critical of LeBron's influence on the team, describing the Lakers' attempt to form a superteam with aging stars as misguided. He dismissed the championship won in the bubble season, saying it lacks legitimacy. The comedian didn't hesitate to label the Lakers a "joke," emphasizing that they’ve fallen from their glory days. Spears ranked LeBron lower than Lakers legends like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Shaquille O’Neal, asserting that LeBron doesn't belong in the conversation with Michael Jordan or even Kobe Bryant. According to Spears, if LeBron retires without significant achievements beyond the bubble championship, the comparisons to Jordan are laughable.
