Despite his hardships, including working two jobs and caring for his sister’s child, Ortiz's dream was unwavering—to become a world champion. Garcia offered to train Ortiz in California, promising to help him financially if he moved. With his sister's emotional support, Ortiz emancipated himself, securing guardianship under Garcia. With minimal belongings and a heart full of determination, Ortiz boarded a plane to California, driven by his aspirations. Landing in Oxnard, Ortiz embraced a new chapter, training under Garcia’s mentorship. By 16, Ortiz had won eight titles, exemplifying his tenacity and Garcia’s impactful mentorship in transforming his life.
