Part 1: Tavis Smiley on How President Joe Biden Kept His Word to Black Voters

--------

Tavis Smiley shared his views on Kamala Harris’s chances in a potential debate against Donald Trump. Shawn Prez began by questioning whether America is ready to elect a Black woman as President, considering its historical context. Smiley candidly admitted his uncertainty about the country's readiness but emphasized two critical voting blocs: Black voters and White women. Smiley pointed out that White women's voting patterns historically mirror those of White men, raising doubts about their support for Harris. He expressed skepticism about whether Harris can generate the same enthusiasm Barack Obama did in 2008.

When it comes to debating Trump, Smiley stated, “Kamala Harris is not going to roll Donald Trump.” He argued that both candidates face unique challenges: Trump avoiding misogynistic pitfalls and Harris combating racial and gender biases. Smiley advised Harris's camp to consult psychologists and cultural analysts to navigate these complexities effectively. Ultimately, he emphasized that thorough preparation is crucial for both camps ahead of their inevitable "awkward dance."
