X-Raided revealed how his lyrics and album cover were used against him in a sensationalized trial that captivated national attention. The prosecution claimed that the gun X-Raided held on his album cover was the murder weapon and portrayed his lyrics as confessions to the crime. This led to a highly charged media response, with local newspapers and later the Associated Press framing X-Raided as guilty even before the trial began. The Sacramento Bee misquoted his lyrics to make them appear more incriminating, further damaging his defense.

Remarkably, the courtroom strategies applied to X-Raided’s case are no longer legal. The "California Rap Lyrics Bill" now prevents the use of lyrics as evidence in criminal trials. The felony murder rule, which previously allowed multiple individuals to be charged with first-degree murder even if they did not directly commit the act, has also been reformed. Additionally, juveniles can no longer be automatically tried as adults in California. X-Raided expressed his frustration over the media's misrepresentation and the outdated legal strategies that significantly impacted his case, which today would have been unlawful.
