Hector Bravo revealed shocking insights about corruption within the prison system. Bravo disclosed that seeing correctional officers involved in smuggling contraband became a common occurrence during his tenure. While tobacco was a major commodity due to its ban on prison grounds, other high-value items included cell phones, which could fetch up to $3,500.

Female COs and nurses engaging in illicit relationships with inmates were not uncommon, according to Bravo. He recounted observing a female CO delivering suggestive photos to an inmate, leading to her being caught and dismissed. He also talked about a childhood friend who was fired for having a relationship with an inmate, which continued after the inmate's release.

Bravo mentioned instances where COs were caught in the act, often resulting in job termination rather than criminal charges. However, serious offenses sometimes attracted federal scrutiny, as in the case of a colleague caught smuggling platinum grills across state lines, now facing federal charges.
