Part 1: Oschino on Growing Up During Crack Era in Philly, Parents on Crack, Sent to Foster Care
--------
Oschino shared his firsthand experiences and perspective on the break-up of Roc-A-Fella Records. Oschino suggested that Jay-Z's desire to venture out on his own and maximize his earnings was a major reason behind the split from partners Damon Dash and Kareem "Biggs" Burke. He highlighted the emotional impact the split had on young fans, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds who admired the success story of Roc-A-Fella.
A particularly striking anecdote involved Peedi Crakk, a fellow Roc-A-Fella artist, who once approached Jay-Z asking for a car to help with transportation. According to Oschino, Jay-Z responded with a curt "No," which he perceived as cold and unempathetic. Oschino felt compelled to step in and help Peedi out by offering him a car.
Oschino argued that even small gestures of support from Jay-Z, especially when they come from the label's budget rather than his own pocket, would have shown genuine camaraderie. He expressed disappointment in how artists were treated, feeling that loyalty and mutual support should have been paramount in their professional relationships.
