Part 1: Bricc Baby on How He Became a Rollin' 60s Neighborhood Crip
--------
Bricc Baby detailed the relationship between him and late rapper Nipsey Hussle, shedding light on why Nipsey declined to collaborate with prominent artists like Future and Young Thug. According to Bricc Baby, Nipsey's selective nature stemmed from his methodical approach to music production. Bricc Baby introduced Young Thug to Nipsey around 2009, but Nipsey didn't immediately resonate with Thug’s then-nascent sound. The innovative styles of artists like Young Thug and Future were ahead of their time, and Nipsey, who was very hands-on and perfectionist with his craft, took a while to warm up to new and different musical experiments.
Nipsey was also approached for a collaboration with Future but turned it down, a decision influenced by his slow, meticulous work style. Bricc Baby noted that Nipsey would carefully craft each bar, turning his music into an art project rather than quickly putting out tracks. The conversation further delved into how Nipsey meticulously worked on tracks with other big names like Drake, reinforcing his reputation for quality and dedication to his artistry.
