FYB J Mane opened up about his father's incarceration in federal prison and its profound impact on his life. From age 10 to 25, J Mane's father was absent, serving a sentence initially set for 15 years. Despite the challenges, J Mane was determined not to follow in his father's footsteps, even as his family faced financial struggles due to his father's imprisonment. J Mane recalls frequent visits to his father in the Metropolitan Correctional facility in Chicago, a formative experience during his youth. Growing up, J Mane had a complex family life. His mother, juggling responsibilities as a single parent, had three children by two different fathers. J Mane also discusses his relationship with his younger brother, FYB DooWop, and his efforts to shield him from gang influences and negativity. The rapper also revisited his high school years, having attended seven different schools due to a mix of behavior issues and transfers, reflecting a tumultuous yet formative period in his life.
