Part 4: Peter Chin on Multiple Shootouts with Off-Duty Cops, Sent to Rikers Island at 16
Part 1: Peter Chin on Chinese Gangs Recruiting Him in Grade School, Ran Away from Dad's Abuse at 13

--------

Peter Chin recounts his daring experience assisting the Wah Ching gang in a harrowing conflict against the Joe Boys in San Francisco. Despite the overwhelming odds of being outnumbered 300 to 3, Peter approached the desperate situation with a resolve to help. Initially unaware of the dire circumstances, Peter was handed a .22 caliber weapon, an offering he found laughably inadequate. As the confrontation unfolded, Peter found himself in the middle of intense shootouts, narrowly escaping with his life multiple times. One particularly fraught encounter involved a narrow escape from a trio of gunmen, during which Peter and his companions endured a barrage of bullets while trapped in a car with a dead battery. The escalating violence and near-death experiences eventually led Peter to conclude he had to leave California.
