Part 2: Tay Savage Reveals Who Came Up with the Idea for 'Savage Life' in Chicago Jails
--------
Chicago rapper Tay Savage opened up about his troubled childhood. Known for his raw lyrics and recent record deal with Empire, Tay reflects on his rocky upbringing, which was marred by violence and criminal activity. Growing up in the "low end" of Chicago, a sprawling area near downtown, he faced challenges early on, including his father's incarceration from the time of his birth until age 12. Despite attempts to reconnect and steer Tay toward a better path, his father's return home created a friction-filled dynamic.
Tay admits he began stealing cars as young as eight, starting with easy-to-target models like an old Toyota Corolla, using just a screwdriver for ignition. By 16, Tay was embroiled in more serious crimes, such as armed robbery, resulting in his arrest. Surprisingly, he received a relatively light juvenile sentence: three months in detention, followed by six months of house arrest, underscoring a judicial leniency that occasionally occurs with youthful offenders.
