Reverend Lorenzo Sewell, pastor of 180 Church Detroit, went viral after he delivered a spirited prayer during Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday (January 20). During a Sunday night inaugural gala, Sewell revealed that Trump asked him personally to deliver the prayer at his inauguration.
During his prayer, Sewell stated, "Heavenly father we are so grateful that you gave our 45th and now our 47th president a millimeter miracle." He added, "Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we are so grateful today that you will use our 47th president, so we would sing with new meaning, my country, tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."
Sewell also quoted Martin Luther King Jr.'s seminal "I Have a Dream" speech, as he asked God to "let freedom ring" nationwide and ensure that Americans are "free at last. Free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."
